Background: We completed this project in summer 2025. This beautiful log cabin had been neglected over the years, and the wood showed significant signs of weathering and wear. The original stain had faded unevenly, leaving patches of bleaching, discoloration, and grey tones, while prolonged sun and moisture exposure caused the logs to lose their natural warmth and vibrancy. Cracks and checking were also more pronounced, highlighting the need for a full restoration to bring back the cabin’s natural beauty.

Process: In summer 2025, we restored this neglected log cabin, where years of exposure had left the logs faded, bleached, discolored, and grey. Our team began by clearing landscaping, removing old caulking and chinking, and repairing rotten or broken boards, then carefully masked all windows and sensitive surfaces with thick plastic to protect them during blasting.

We then performed media blasting, which gently yet effectively stripped away the old, weathered stain and surface contaminants while revealing the natural beauty of the wood grain. After blasting, we sanded the logs smooth, ensuring a flawless surface ready to absorb the new stain. Once prepped, we applied three coats of top-of-the-line Sashco stain, back-brushed meticulously for deep penetration, uniform coverage, and long-lasting protection. The multi-coat process restored the logs’ rich color, enhanced their natural grain, and safeguarded them against sun, moisture, and weathering.

The project concluded with a complete cleanup, removing all masking and debris, leaving the cabin looking refreshed and beautifully renewed, with vibrant logs that will last for years to come.
