RECENT PROJECTS
Background: Nested on top of a mountain in the middle of a scree field overlooking Big Sky resort, this is without a doubt one of the coolest and wildest homes we've ever had the privilege of renovating. The dark-stained, hand-hewn wood frame construction with plaster walls made this paint job different and much more difficult than most of our interior projects.
Process: It isn't possible to tape clean lines on uneven and jagged exposed wood framing. Furthermore, the varnish on all of the wood meant masking wouldn't stick sufficiently anyway. For this reason, we had to hand cut every single edge in the entire home and use varying size rollers to fill in the body of the walls. The homeowners decided on a bright "high-reflective white" color to cover all the plaster walls which could only be achieved with multiple coats of primer and paint. As traditional primer and paint won't soak in or stick at all to finished plaster, we had to first use a specialized plaster primer followed by a more traditional latex-based primer. We then applied two more coats of the Sherwin Williams paint in the color "mountain peak white" which was very well suited for this home.
Big Sky Custom Interior
"Bobcat was recommended to us by friends. We had just purchased a house and wanted the entire interior painted to reflect our tastes. We met with Ian and Charlie, the partners in Bobcat. They came up with good suggestions and we hired them. They did an outstanding job, on time and on budget."
We look forward to discussing your project.
