Our Process

Preparation

Log home maintenance

At the start of every log home restoration, we perform a comprehensive inspection and evaluation to identify signs of log rot, insect damage, deep checking, and any areas where the previous stain or finish has deteriorated or failed. Any underlying issues are properly addressed and repaired prior to staining to ensure a sound surface and long-lasting results.

01

We prepare the site by trimming back landscaping, overgrown bushes, and low-hanging branches as needed. Decks, concrete, stonework, and any adjacent surfaces are carefully protected, and ground coverings are laid to contain dust and streamline the cleanup process.

02

We apply heavy-duty plastic masking and secure taping to protect windows, doors, fixtures, outlets, hardware, and other sensitive surfaces. This safeguards them from damage during the blasting process and helps prevent dust from entering the interior of the home.

03

Media Blasting

Once all equipment—including the boom lift, compressor, blasting pot, and related tools—is delivered to the site and fully set up, we establish the most efficient sequence of operations. This approach allows us to complete a full perimeter pass of the exterior, blasting and sanding all wood surfaces in a single, streamlined cycle.

04

We use high-pressure equipment to propel abrasive media onto the exterior wood surfaces of the home or structure. This process effectively removes weathering and surface buildup, restoring the wood to a lighter, more uniform color while enhancing its natural grain.

05

We then follow up by sanding every square inch to refine and smooth the surface, creating a clean, fresh layer that ensures optimal adhesion and a flawless finish for the new stain.

06

Staining

Once the logs have been properly blasted, sanded, and cleaned, we ensure the surface is dry and free of dust or debris. Any necessary repairs, caulking, or sealant applications are completed before stain is introduced.

07

We apply the stain evenly using professional-grade sprayers and back-brushing techniques to work the product deep into the wood grain. This ensures uniform coverage, proper penetration, and enhanced color consistency.

08

After the stain has properly penetrated and cured as specified, we inspect the surface for consistency and touch up any areas as needed. The result is a rich, even finish that enhances the natural beauty of the logs while providing long-term protection.

09

Inspection and Cleanup

Once blasting and staining are complete, we conduct a thorough inspection of all log surfaces to ensure consistent coverage, proper penetration, and overall finish quality. Any necessary touch-ups are addressed immediately to achieve a uniform, professional result.

10

After final approval of the finish, we carefully remove all masking, plastic coverings, and protective materials from windows, doors, and surrounding surfaces. Containment tarps are gathered, and all blasting media, dust, and debris are collected and properly disposed of.

11

We perform a comprehensive site cleanup, leaving decks, landscaping, and adjacent areas neat and orderly. A final walkthrough is completed to review the work and ensure the property is restored to a clean, well-presented condition.
